March 10, 2020
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. and Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (President Ryuichi Arimoto; head office in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) have today been jointly awarded a contract for the "Capability Improvement Project for Achieving the Electricity Sector Master Plan in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" ("Project") by the Japan International Cooperation Agency ("JICA").
Amidst increasing electricity demand caused by economic growth, Sri Lanka was promoting the development of power resources, especially hydroelectricity. This project is run from March 2020 to March 2023 to boost the capability of relevant organizations such as the Ceylon Electricity Board as the nation strives to develop power transmission and distribution networks, predict power output and secure regulated power supplies for the purposes of establishing the optimum configuration of power resources and promoting the introduction of renewable energies.
Chubu Electric Power will tap into its accumulation of knowledge and experiences in the electric power business in taking on this project, offering technical guidance and transferring technology to Sri Lanka.
Through the overseas consulting business, the company will continue to contribute to the development and advancement of the electric power business abroad, with an emphasis on developing countries in Asia and Africa.
