Japan’s First Consortium Selected Based on Public Offering Guidelines Towards Realization of Floating Offshore Wind Power Generator in Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facility Maintenance Promotion Area Offshore Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan

TODA CORPORATION (Otani Seisuke, President and Representative Director), ENEOS Corporation (Ota Katsuyuki, Representative Director, President), OSAKA GAS (Fujiwara Masataka, Representative Director and President), INPEX CORPORATION (Ueda Takayuki, Representative Director, President & CEO), Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (Morimoto Takashi, Director, Representative Executive Officer, President) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Hayashi Kingo, President & Director) jointly announced they took part in a public bid for business operations within the “Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facility Maintenance Promotion Area Offshore Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan” (hereinafter “Project”) as a consortium (hereinafter “Consortium”) led by TODA CORPORATION based on the Act of Promoting Utilization of Sea Areas in Development of Power Generation Facilities Using Maritime Renewable Energy Resources (hereinafter “the Act”) by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan. The Consortium was selected as the Project’s business operator on June 11, 2021.

This Project marks the first construction and operation of a commercial floating offshore wind farm* in Japan and the first marine renewable energy power generation facility constructed based on the Act.

*Multiple wind power generators installed and operated as one power plant.

The Consortium will next establish a limited liability company and coordinate with METI and MLIT to seek approval for a public occupancy plan.

Through the Project, the Consortium will contribute to the development of local communities while focusing on the construction and operation of the offshore wind farm towards the early diffusion of floating offshore wind power generation contributing to the realization of carbon neutrality in Japan.
