Chubu Electric Power-Led Consortium Selected as Candidate for Post-20th Asian Games Athletes’ Village Utilization Project

June 24, 2021
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (“Chubu Electric Power”) has assembled and led a consortium of companies in bidding for a project sponsored by Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City to recruit businesses that will make use of the 20th Asian Games Athletes’ Village after the games conclude. We are pleased to announce today that Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City decided to select our consortium as candidate for the project.

This solicitation recruited businesses to develop the Nagoya Horse Racing Track site, which will be used as the Athletes’ Village for the 20th Asian Games in 2026, based upon the Basic Concept for the Post-20th Asian Games Athletes’ Village Utilization Project (“Basic Concept”) drafted by the prefecture and city.

Our consortium put forth a proposal based on an original concept of a Wellness Association that includes arrangement of the facilities in line with the Basic Concept’s themes of ‘exuberance,’ ‘recreation/relaxation,’ ‘learning,’ and ‘residential living.’ Employing the Wellness Association concept, our aim is to create a next-generation urban development that connects a diverse mix of people who will solve the various challenges that society faces as they help each other and work together to foster happiness.

We will be conferring with Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya City, and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee to put together a more detailed plan for this project.
