Establishment of "GDBL Corporation" and Certification of Secured Meter Data Sharing Association as an "Organization for Users of Electricity Consumers Information"

TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Kaneko), Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Head Office: Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi; President and Director: Kingo Hayashi), Kansai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution, Inc. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President and Director: Yoshihiro Doi), and NTT DATA Corporation (Head Office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President & Chief Executive Officer: Yo Honma) have established GDBL Corporation (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Takao Hirai) on April 26, 2022.

Moreover, today, Secured Meter Data Sharing Association ("SMDSA"), in which GDBL participates, was certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as an "Organization for Users of Electricity Consumers Information."

About GDBL's Business

GDBL will develop the data application service business and the data platform business, mainly utilizing energy consumption data. In addition to providing various services that utilize energy consumption data, we will develop initiatives to create new services, including verification for value enhancement and new value creation as well as consultation by combining energy consumption data along with data from different industries.

Participation in SMDSA and its Acquisition of Certification

GDBL has been a founding member of SMDSA since its establishment on May 19, 2022. SMDSA today was certified by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as an "Organization for Users of Electricity Consumers Information" under Article 37-4 of the Electricity Business Act.

From now on, SMDSA, as an accredited organization, will develop an environment in which energy consumption data can be used and provided safely and appropriately, while taking into account the intent of the Electricity Business Act. Specifically, SMDSA will establish a framework and develop a system to enable the provision of energy consumption data (statistical data and individual data with customer consent) derived from 80 million smart meters nationwide for a fee, starting at the end of the first half of FY2023. GDBL will promote this initiative as a data user member.

Relationship with Grid Data Bank Laboratory Limited Liability Partnership

GDBL will take over the overall business of Grid Data Bank Laboratory Limited Liability Partnership (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Executive Officer: Haruki Mino; "Grid Data Bank Lab") and develop a platform business utilizing the knowledge and know-how on the use of energy consumption data acquired through demonstration activities to date.

Grid Data Bank Lab will be dissolved on July 1 due to the expiration of its term of existence.
