Conclusion of the "Agreement on the Promotion of Use of Wood in Buildings" with Aichi Prefecture

The consortium led by Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. for the Post-20th Asian Games Athletes' Village Utilization Project ("Consortium") concluded the agreement on the Promotion of the Use of Wood in Buildings ("Agreement") today with Aichi Prefecture (Governor: Hideaki Omura).

As part of the Post-20th Asian Games Athletes' Village Utilization Project ("Project"), Consortium planned the " 'Wellness Association' + 'Life with Trees' project, the urban development for promoting unified style of wood structure and wooden interior decoration in the entire town area, that utilizes wood produced in Aichi Prefecture, and then applied for the "business and project ideas to realize carbon neutrality" recruited by Aichi Prefecture. The planned project was later selected in the "2nd Aichi carbon neutrality strategy meeting" led by Aichi Prefecture.

The purpose of the Agreement is to help expanding the use of wood produced in Aichi Prefecture as a model of "introduction of wood structure and wooden interior decoration in urban areas" by creating a design that gives a wooden image to the whole town and promote the use of wood produced in the prefecture in the town development initiatives by Consortium. This is the first concluded agreement for Aichi Prefecture.

Based on the Agreement, we will proactively utilize wood produced in Aichi Prefecture in Project, and actively implement initiatives that contribute to decarbonization to realize our "Zero Emissions Challenge 2050".
