Development of zone air conditioning system using the air curtain, "AC Zone" ~Realizing comfortable work space with reducing energy consumption by approx. 40%~

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President and Director: Kingo Hayashi), Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Inc. (Representative Director: Shinya Otani; "Chubu Electric Power Miraiz") and Shin Nippon Air Technologies Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Shinji Maekawa; "Shin Nippon Air Technologies") have jointly developed "AC Zone", the zone air conditioning system that provides a comfortable work space and saves energy, mainly intended for large- and medium-scale factory customers.

Chubu Electric Power Miraiz and Shin Nippon Air Technologies will begin sales of "AC Zone" on November 1.

In order to increase work efficiency at factories, it is important to maintain a comfortable temperature in the work space. On the other hand, some customers have said, "we want to air-condition only the work space in the factory, but installing columns or walls interferes with work" and "air-conditioning the entire factory results in higher energy consumption".

After repeated reviews in response to customer comments, the three companies have developed a zone air conditioning system that can maintain the work space at a comfortable temperature without installing columns or walls by separating the work space with air curtain (Note 1) and operating the air conditioner in said space. The developed product can be installed to various factories, either new and existing, as it is less subject to restrictions of building structure.

Furthermore, energy consumption is reduced by approx. 40% (Note 2) since the air curtain can hold the cool or warm air from the air conditioning system in the work space.

The three companies will continue to contribute to improving customer productivity and realizing a decarbonized society, and create and offer new values that solve social problems.

(Note 1) The equipment that gives a curtain-like effect by powerfully blowing air to prevent entry of outside air or temperature loss for entrances/exits of open-type stores and factories.

(Note 2) Calculated under the same condition of temperature and humidity inside a 5m×5m zone with or without an air curtain.
