Start of Commercial Operation of an Off-shore Wind Power Generation Project in Noshiro Port, Akita Prefecture

Through the special purpose company Akita Offshore Wind Corporation (AOW), Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power") has been working with Marubeni Corporation, Obayashi Corporation, Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Akita Bank, Ltd., Ohmori Construction Corporation, Sawakigumi Corporation, Kyowa Oil Co., Ltd., Kato Kensetsu Co., Ltd., Kanpu Co., Ltd., and Sankyo Co., Ltd. on Japan's first commercial large-scale offshore wind power generation project ("Project") at Akita Port and Noshiro Port in Akita Prefecture.

Today, following the completion of its construction, the commercial operation of the offshore wind farm at Noshiro Port was started.

The offshore wind farm at Akita Port is currently undergoing trial operations and will start commercial operations shortly. AOW will operate and maintain both power plants for the next 20 years under an operation and maintenance system based in Noshiro Port.

The Chubu Electric Power Group has positioned renewable energy as one of its main power sources that will contribute to decarbonization and increase energy self-sufficiency. We will continue to actively develop renewable energy sources to achieve our goal of expanding renewable energy capacity to more than 3.2 million kW by around 2030 through ownership, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy plants.
