May 07, 2025
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Chubu Electric Power has today started construction of the Uchigatani Hydroelectric Power Station ("the Power Station") in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture.

The Power Station is a hydroelectric power station with an output of 730kW, utilizing maintenance water discharged from the Uchigatani Dam currently being constructed by Gifu Prefecture in Gujo City, and is aimed to commence operations in FY2027.

Continuing to embrace an eco-conscious mindset, we will proceed to construct the facility while affording the highest priority to safety and with the understanding and cooperation of the dam operator, Gifu Prefecture and Gujo City, as well as local communities and other relevant parties.

The Chubu Electric Power Group has positioned renewable energy as one of its main power sources that will contribute to achieving a carbon-free society as well as enhancing energy self-sufficiency, and we will continue active development in order to achieve our goal of "an expansion over 3.2 million kW through ownership, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy plants by around 2030".
