Press Release
Impact on our consolidated income statement due to suspension of domestic offshore wind power generation project by C-Tech
August 27, 2025
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
C-Tech Corporation (Head office: Midori-ku, Nagoya; President: Daisuke Shimohiro; hereinafter "C-Tech"), a Chubu Electric Power Group company, today announced the result of the business feasibility reassessment for the domestic offshore wind power generation project.
C-Tech has established the project companies each in the following three sea areas (Note) through a consortium led by Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd. (hereinafter "Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind"), and has been proceeding with the development of offshore wind farms as a power generator.
However, in response to changes in the business environment that exceeded initial forecasts at the time of public offering participation, we have been working to reassess the project's feasibility. Based on Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind's intentions following this reassessment and discussions among the project partners, we have concluded that continuing the project is difficult.
We take very seriously the fact that we were unable to meet the expectations of the local community and all concerned parties.
(Note)Off the coast of Noshiro City, Mitane Town, and Oga City in Akita Prefecture / Off the coast of Yurihonjo City in Akita Prefecture / Off the coast of Choshi City in Chiba Prefecture
This will result in an estimated loss of approximately 17 billion yen in our consolidated income and loss statement for the fiscal year ending March 2026.
Regarding our consolidated earnings forecast (for the fiscal year ending March 2026), while factors contributing to improved profitability, such as increased operation of air conditioning equipment due to high summer temperatures, are emerging, in addition to the need to assess future supply and demand conditions and the ongoing implementation of group-wide profitability improvement measures, we have not revised the forecast from the value announced on July 29, 2025.
We will promptly notify you if any significant changes occur in our consolidated earnings forecasts following a thorough review of future supply and demand conditions.
