Launch of initiative to introduce on-demand shared taxis within Nagoya City

Chubu Electric Power today announced that it has launched an initiative to introduce on-demand shared taxis in certain areas of Nagoya City.

On-demand shared taxis are a transportation service that operates flexibly according to users' reservations and allows multiple people to share a ride. By registering necessary details such as pickup location and preferred date/time through apps or other means, users can dispatch a taxi. Furthermore, if there are other passengers sharing the ride on the way to the destination, the taxi fare is reduced compared to using it alone.

This initiative targets mainly residents and visitors of "iiNE town Mizuho" in Mizuho, Nagoya City, developed by Chuden Real Estate Co., Inc. It utilizes a unique AI-based MaaS (Mobility as a Service (Note)) centered on shared rides developed by NearMe Inc. The service will operate from November 17, 2025, to March 31, 2026. It is expected to be used by residents of iiNE town Mizuho to get to the nearest station, and by visitors to get to nearby facilities or to their homes.

Based on the results confirmed through this initiative, our company plans to proceed with exploring the development and deployment of MaaS solutions tailored for dual-income households and families unable to secure time for drop-off and pick-up of children.
