Press Release

Capital and business alliance with SHONAI, which develops regional revitalization business models

January 30, 2026
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Chubu Electric power hereby announces that it has agreed today to a capital and business alliance with SHONAI Inc. (CEO: Daisuke Yamanaka, hereinafter "SHONAI"). Under this agreement, we have acquired shares in SHONAI by subscribing to a portion of the third-party allotment capital increase being conducted by SHONAI.

SHONAI embraces the vision "Be the hope of regional areas," focusing on three key domains—agriculture, tourism, and corporate transformation—to tackle challenges in regional cities nationwide.

To date, our company has pursued the creation of new value and new business models aimed at solving regional challenges. In the agricultural sector, we have collaborated with NEWGREEN Inc. (hereinafter "NEWGREEN", Note 1) on the commercialization of rice production using direct seeding and water-saving cultivation methods (Press release issued on May 30, 2025). In the tourism sector, our subsidiary, ES-CON JAPAN Ltd., has been collaborating with LOCAL RESORTS Inc. (Note 1) and NEWGREEN on hotel development projects centered around the concept of "agriculture."

Based on this capital and business alliance, Chubu Electric Power will work on further collaboration in the area of agriculture, and will start a new collaboration in the area of human resources with XLOCAL Inc. (hereinafter "XLOCAL", Note 1). Specifically, within XLOCAL's "10 Billion Think Tank" (Note 2) business, we plan to jointly organize regular support events targeting small and medium-sized enterprises, handling everything from content planning to event operations. Through these efforts, we will promote the creation and development of the "next-generation companies worth 10 billion yen" in the Chubu area and contribute to the further revitalization of the entire region.

Going forward, Chubu Electric Power will further strengthen its collaboration with SHONAI to create opportunities for the creation of businesses that contribute to solving regional issues.

(Note 1) Group companies of SHONAI
(Note 2) A community enabling companies to achieve business growth on a scale of 10 billion yen.
Beyond mere knowledge sharing, it operates as an “implementation platform” where executives and experts co-create field-based growth models, unfolding across three pillars: dissemination, research, and cultivation.
