Cancellation of transporting low-level radioactive waste from Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station in FY2025

Chubu Electric Power hereby announces its decision to cancel the transportation of low-level radioactive waste scheduled for February 2026. The waste was originally due to be transported from the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station in the 2025 financial year (details were announced on October 30, 2025).
Future transport schedules are undetermined.

Reason for cancellation

On January 14, the 51st meeting of the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) approved not to conduct a review of the application for confirmation of radioactive waste disposal from the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station filed by Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL) on December 15, 2025. Consequently, the disposal of the waste scheduled for transport cannot be anticipated.
