Withdrawal from biomass power generation businesses in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture; Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture; Nagano, Nagano Prefecture; and Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture

February 17, 2026
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Chubu electric power has decided to withdraw from the biomass power generation projects in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture; Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture; Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture; and Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as the "Four Power Generation Projects") by transferring its ownership interest in these projects to PROSPEC AZ Inc.

Each of the operating companies established by the investing companies, including our company, had decided to develop a woody biomass power plant with a power generation output of 1,990 kW, using pruned branches of roadside trees (note) as the main fuel.
(note) Branches cut down for tree shaping or to maintain tree size.

However, we have come to the conclusion that it will be difficult to ensure the business feasibility of the project, as the initially anticipated start of operation is now expected to be delayed.

The Chubu Electric Power Group has positioned renewable energy as one of its main power sources that will contribute to achieving a carbon-free society as well as enhancing energy self-sufficiency, and we will continue active development in order to achieve our goal of "an expansion over 3.2 million kW through ownership, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy plants by around 2030".
