Regarding Inappropriate Practices in Implementation Reports and Cost Claims Submitted to the Spent Fuel Reprocessing and Decommissioning Promotion Organization Concerning the Decommissioning and Removal Work for Units 1 and 2 of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant

Our company is currently proceeding with decommissioning and removal work at Units 1 and 2 of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant in accordance with the Decommissioning Plan (Note).
We have recently confirmed that, in connection with implementation reports and cost claims submitted to the Spent Fuel Reprocessing and Decommissioning Promotion Organization (hereinafter "NuRO") for decommissioning and removal work in fiscal year 2024, copies of work reports received from contractors regarding certain construction activities were altered—specifically, the volume of materials to be dismantled and the dismantling equipment were rewritten—resulting in figures reported to NuRO that differed from actual results (hereinafter "this incident").
Going forward, we will conduct an investigation into the facts of the matter and take appropriate measures in accordance with the instructions and guidance of the regulatory authorities and NuRO.
Furthermore, since Units 1 and 2 of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant are decommissioned facilities, do not store spent fuel, and this incident pertains to document preparation during the process of creating materials for implementation reports and cost claims submitted to NuRO regarding decommissioning and removal work in fiscal year 2024, we do not believe it directly affects the safety of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant.
We sincerely and deeply apologize for the repeated incidents of misconduct within our nuclear division, which have caused concern and inconvenience to our stakeholders, including the local community.

2. Future Actions
We will proceed with the investigation into the facts of the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the instructions and guidance of the regulatory authorities.
(Note) The decommissioning plans for Units 1 and 2 of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant establish an overall plan for the safe and reliable dismantling of the reactor facilities at Units 1 and 2, as well as the details of the work to be performed during decommissioning and the safety measures to be implemented. The decommissioning of Units 1 and 2 will be carried out in four phases, with the entire decommissioning period divided into Phase 1 ("Preparation for Dismantling") through Phase 4 ("Dismantling and Removal of Buildings, etc."). On March 14, 2024, to transition to Phase 3 of the decommissioning (the reactor area dismantling and removal period), an application for approval to amend the decommissioning plan was submitted to the Nuclear Regulation Authority. Approval was granted on December 18, 2024, and the transition to Phase 3 of the decommissioning began on December 25, 2024.
