Hokuriku Electric Power Company

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., and Hokuriku Electric Power Company (hereinafter "the three companies") have signed an agreement today on mutual technical cooperation to improve nuclear safety. The decision was made given that the three companies are located close to one another, and they all own Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs); particularly Advanced Boiling Reactors (ABWR) that are in service.

More specifically, the three companies will collaborate in technical aspects by taking advantage of their identical reactor types and in turn improving operator skills and sharing operation knowledge.

Capitalizing on their geographical proximity, the three companies will mutually cooperate in assisting the evacuation of local residents and accident recovery activities alike in the event of nuclear accidents.

These are efforts to further enhance the effectiveness of the current Cooperation Agreement Between Nuclear Operators (Note) .

The three companies will continue to make every effort to ensure further safety and reliability as nuclear operators.
