I will be discussing the following matters today:

  • Recruitment Plan for FY2025
  • New measures to create an environment where diverse human resources can play an active role

Recruitment Plan for FY2025

  • To begin, I would like to discuss the recruitment plans for FY2025.
  • The three Chubu Electric Power companies have decided to hire a total of 660 new employees in FY 2025, an increase of 60 from the previous year's plan, for the combined total of regular and career hires.
  • With respect to regular hires, we plan to hire 445 employees, the same level as last year's plan of 440 employees, from the viewpoint of securing stable personnel over the medium and long term.
  • As for career hires, we plan to hire 215 employees, an increase of 55 from the 160 planned for the previous fiscal year.
  • This is intended not only to actively secure human resources who will be active in new growth areas, such as further expansion of renewable energy and global businesses and acceleration of DX (Digital Transformation) promotion, but also to diversify human resources and upgrade operations in the management divisions, such as human resources and accounting.
  • The Group will continue to hire the necessary human resources in a continuous and timely manner to further strengthen its management foundation and steadily promote each business plan toward the realization of Management Vision 2.0.

New measures to create an environment where diverse human resources can play an active role

  • Next, I will discuss new measures to create an environment where diverse human resources can play an active role.
  • In order to continuously secure the human resources necessary for our business activities in terms of both quantity and quality, we believe it is necessary to create an environment where our employees can choose us as a company where they can play an active role for a long time.
  • Starting from the next fiscal year, the Group has decided to newly promote "the expansion of the vacation and leave system" and "the introduction of a work system that enables a practical four-day workweek" so that each employee can choose a more flexible work style according to his or her own life events and career stage.
  • Regarding the first point, the expansion of the vacation and leave system, we will introduce a childcare leave system for the purpose of bringing up grandchildren, review the special leave for marriages, which allows for leave to be taken in segments for each event, and revise the number of regular leave days for regular hires to encourage new employees to actively take leave.
  • Of these, the so-called "grandchild care leave" is a revision of the childcare leave system to enable long-term support for the upbringing of grandchildren based on changes in the working environment, led by the increase in dual working households, and from the perspective of supporting the upbringing of the next generation by society as a whole.
  • With regard to the second point, the introduction of a work system that enables a practical four-day workweek to expand employees' work options, this system allows employees to choose the same value as a four-day workweek by allowing them to set up a maximum of four workdays per month with zero working hours.
  • We believe that these measures will lead to the realization of optimal work styles that suit diverse lifestyles, enhancing the work comfort of our employees and encouraging career development.
  • Furthermore, as we have recently announced, during the spring labor-management negotiations for this fiscal year, we have decided to respond in full to the union's demands for both wages and bonuses, and to set the starting salary at a level that exceeds the union's demands.
  • This decision was made in light of the Group's current income and expenditure situation and future business environment, while comprehensively taking into consideration the expectations for further improvement of employee motivation and further productivity.

  • We recognize that securing and maintaining a stable supply of excellent human resources over the medium to long term is an urgent challenge for the sustainable development of our company.
