Withdrawal from Biomass Power Generation Business in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture

Chubu Electric Power has decided to withdraw from the biomass power generation business (hereinafter "this business") in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture.

The Yonago Biomass Power Plant (hereinafter "the Plant") commenced commercial operation in April 2022 (details were announced on April 4, 2022）. However, a fire occurred in the Plant's fuel receiving and transferring facilities in September 2023, and we have been studying ways to resume operations. Due to substantial restoration and countermeasure construction costs, among other reasons, we have concluded that continuing this business is difficult.

Following our withdrawal from this business, the removal of power generation facilities and other equipment will be carried out sequentially.
With the understanding of local community and other relevant parties, we will proceed with the removal work while prioritizing safety above all else.
