Receipt of the Investigation Report on Improper Practices Related to the Formulation of Design Basis Earthquake Motion in the Review of Compliance with New Regulatory Standards for the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant

In connection with the case involving the inappropriate evaluation of seismic motion at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant during the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Commission's review of Units 3 and 4 of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant for compliance with the new regulatory standards under the Act on the Regulation of Nuclear Reactors, etc., we established a committee composed solely of external experts independent of the Company (hereinafter referred to as the "Investigation Committee") to ensure transparency and fairness in investigating the facts and causes of the matter and to consider measures to prevent recurrence (Press release issued on January 5, 2026). Since then, while the Investigation Committee has been conducting its investigation, we have cooperated fully to ensure the independence, neutrality, and effectiveness of the investigation.
We hereby announce that we have received the investigation report from the Investigation Committee today.
With regard to this report, we will promptly disclose it at a later date after redacting certain portions to minimize the impact on those involved in the incident and to protect individual privacy.
We would like to once again offer our deepest and most sincere apologies for causing significant concern and inconvenience to our local community and other stakeholders, as well as for having provoked strong distrust from the broader public.
