JICA Commissions Chubu Electric Power for "Mozambique-Power Efficiency and Reliability Improvement Project"

March 06, 2020
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. is pleased to announce that today we have been commissioned by the Japan International Cooperation Agency ("JICA") to implement the "Mozambique-Power Efficiency and Reliability Improvement Project" ("Project")

As Mozambique's economy grows, so has the demand for electricity.

Because of the large proportion of low-voltage distribution lines which are less efficient and result in greater power loss than high-voltage lines, Mozambique faces the important challenge of scaling down power loss as the nation seeks to shore up its supply capacity and transition to a low-carbon society.

This Project will be carried out over a period of three years from March 2020 until March 2023 and enhance Electricidade de Mozambique's transmission facility planning, design, maintenance, and other capabilities with the goal of curtailing power loss along distribution lines.

Chubu Electric Power will direct the knowledge, experience and technology that we have developed in the electricity business into providing technical guidance, transferring technology, and implementing this Project for the benefit of the people of Mozambique.

Through our overseas consulting business, Chubu Electric Power will contribute to the prosperity and growth of countries, particularly those in the process of developing in Asia, Africa and other regions.
