Basic agreement signed on the introduction of automatic LPG meter reading service, using Chubu Electric Power's smart meter communications network

Kanie JAPAN Co., Ltd. (Kanie-cho, Ama-gun, Aichi; President Tomokatsu Kurokawa; "Kanie JAPAN") and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Higashi-ku, Nagoya; President Kingo Hayashi; "Chubu Electric Power") have signed a basic agreement today after reaching consensus on the introduction of automatic gas meter reading service to Kanie JAPAN, using Chubu Electric Power's smart meter communications network.

Kanie JAPAN will use Chubu Electric Power's smart meter communications network to build a new system for identifying the amount of LPG used by customers, offering alarm information such as gas leaks, remotely obtaining the amount of gas remaining and remotely shutting down / restarting LPG meters. Under the agreement, Kanie JAPAN will start promoting the installation of wireless LPG meters in Aichi, Gifu and Mie Prefectures in 2021 to implement automatic meter reading, thereby enhancing its customer service.

Chubu Electric Power will continue to help LPG, city gas and water service operators adopt automatic meter reading, using its smart meter communications network, as part of the community support infrastructure business designed to contribute to resolving social issues.
