Participation in JICA Project "Capacity Development Project for Improvement of Protection of Transmission Systems in Uganda"

Chubu Electric Power Company, Inc. (hereinafter "CEPCO") and Chubu Electric Power Grid Company, Inc. (hereinafter "CHUBU PG") have entered into a consulting service agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (hereinafter "JICA") regarding "Capacity Development Project for Improvement of Protection of Transmission Systems in Uganda".

Project Overview

Technical guidance and transfer on the following skills.

  • Cause analysis of power outages in transmission lines and substations
  • Taking measures against power outages in transmission lines and substations
  • Operation and maintenance of power system protection devices
  • Development of human resources education system

 In the Republic of Uganda, a steady economic growth has increased electricity power demand in recent years.

On the other hand, improvement for power transmission system protections and reduction of power outages are required because many power outages have occurred due to faults in power transmission lines and substations.

In this project, CEPCO and CHUBU PG will provide technical guidance and transfer expertise to Uganda by taking advantage of the experience of overseas consulting and the domestic electric power businesses.

CEPCO and CHUBU PG are contributing to the development of overseas electrical businesses for the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals.
