Kurokawadaira Hydroelectric Power Station Commenced Commercial Operation

July 13, 2021
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power is pleased to announce that the Kurokawadaira Hydroelectric Power Station commenced commercial operation today.

The Kurokawadaira Hydroelectric Power Station has the capacity to generate 170 kW as it harnesses unused head between the riverbed and floodgates of Chubu Electric Power’s Shin-Otagiri Hydroelectric Power Station.

In our aim to improve energy self-sufficiency and achieve a carbon-free society, the Chubu Electric Power Group has set renewable energy as one of our main power sources. We will continue to actively develop renewables to achieve our goal of producing a minimum of 2,000 MW from renewables by around the year 2030. As hydropower generation, in particular, has the potential to provide stable electric power generation, we will continue to strive to develop this power source as well as update equipment at our current hydropower generation plants to increase the electricity generated.
