YKK AP Inc. ("YKK AP"), Daito Trust Construction Co., Ltd. ("Daito Trust"), NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (Note 1) (DOCOMO Group), and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power") will launch a cross-industry platform to work on social implementation of a model for early detection of sudden changes such as falls that occur in living spaces and disease risks such as dementia through an investment in Total Future Healthcare, Inc. ("TFH"), a subsidiary of e-solutions Inc.("e-solutions")

1. Background

With social changes such as an aging population and an increase in the number of single-person households, falls in living spaces are on the rise. Falls occur not only due to tripping but also as a sign of impaired consciousness caused by diseases such as stroke and myocardial infarction, as well as physical and mental changes such as dementia and frailty, many of which occur in living spaces.

In addition, diseases that progress gradually, such as dementia and diabetes, have a large number of potential patients but tend to have low consultation rates. For example, the total number of potential patients with dementia, including those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), is 10.02 million just in Japan alone (Note 2), but the consultation rate remains at 12% (Note 3).

Early detection of sudden changes such as falls in living spaces and diseases risk such as dementia could contribute to the reduction of social costs such as medical and nursing care costs.

2. Early detection model development

The early detection model of sudden changes and disease risk will be developed by TFH, which has priority implementation rights, in partnership with Vayyar Imaging Ltd. ("Vayyar"), Binah.ai Ltd ("Binah.ai") and PST Inc. ("PST"), all of which have the cutting-edge technology in the world.

In the early detection model, non-contact sensing devices are installed in living spaces such as residences and nursing homes to monitor users' vital data and movements in a privacy-preserving manner.

When a sudden change is detected, family members, caregivers, or the management company or affiliated security company of the residence are notified, and, if necessary, emergency services are called. ("Early Detection of Sudden Change" model)

When disease risk is detected, the risk is fed back to the user, leading to a visit to a nearby clinic, affiliated hospital, or online medical care at the user's own discretion. ("Early Detection with Minor Illness" model)

The development of this early detection model will be promoted not for diagnosis, but for screening in the healthcare area.

3. Cross-industry platform

TFH will play the role of a platform connecting "technology partners" with the cutting-edge technology in the world and "business partners" who provide services to end-users. Each of the participating organizations will play a role that leverages their strengths and existing businesses, aiming for social implementation of the Early Detection of Sudden Change and Early Detection with Minor Illness models in their living spaces.

The number of "technology partners" is planned to increase in the future, including the three companies (Company a through Company c) which are already in partnership discussions.
