Fuji City and Private Sector sign agreements to study introduction of smart water meters and to conduct demonstration experiments using smart water meters for solving issues in waterworks business.

Fuji City, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power"), TOKAI CORPORATION ("TOKAI"), Shizuoka Business Sales Department of NTT Business Solutions Corporation ("NTTBS") and Chubu Branch of NTT TELECON CO.,LTD. ("NTT TELECON") today signed an agreement to study the introduction of smart water meters and an agreement to conduct demonstration experiments to solve issues in the waterworks business by using smart water meters.

Fuji City aims to achieve sustainable and stable management of its water and sewerage business, and has set forth the promotion of DX as an approach to resolving issues. As a new initiative, the city has decided to conduct a demonstration experiment in cooperation with the private sector to study the introduction of smart water meters that perform automatic meter reading.

Based on these agreements, Fuji City and the four companies will work together to study the introduction of smart water meters to solve various issues in the waterworks business by combining their respective infrastructures and knowledge.

Conduct demonstration tests for automatic meter reading, monitoring service for the elderly, and WEB apps for visualization of usage fees, etc.

Identifying water leakage to improve yield rate

Install a water smart meter directly on the water main to obtain data through automatic meter reading and identify leaks by comparing it to the amount of water used by each household.

Manhole overflow detection

Water level rise caused by blockage due to animal fats and oils in the sewage system is detected by a float-type water level sensor, and a warning notice is sent via wireless communication device by e-mail, etc., to prevent pollution of the surrounding area and traffic obstruction due to overflowing water.
