URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE officially launched: Full-scale collaboration among industry, government, academia, and the private sector begins in preparation for NAGOYA REVOLUTION

The URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE began its inaugural meeting on December 2, 2025, and was officially launched as a collaborative platform for industry, government, academia, and the private sector to envision the future of the Nagoya urban center together. Moving forward, the committee will undertake comprehensive efforts to enhance the appeal of the city center, positioning it as the "city of choice" both domestically and internationally.

1. Structure of URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE

At the inaugural meeting, members and officers were appointed as follows, and the organization was formally established.

2. Objectives and Initiatives of URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE

The URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE will work to create urban appeal centered on the following three roles.
1. Foster: We create new business environments by formulating and proposing growth strategies based on collaboration between industry, government, academia, and the community.
2. Connect: We foster community and create new opportunities for interaction by connecting people and events.
3. Expand: We promote our appeal widely, both domestically and internationally, to attract diverse talent and functions to the city center.

In addition to holding regular meetings and public events, we will develop a strategic vision for the city center, establish plans to achieve it, share information, and offer policy recommendations. We will bring together the wisdom and enthusiasm of industry, government, academia, and citizens to jointly envision the future of central Nagoya.

3. About the Logo

This logo features icons representing "CHANCE," "POSITIVE," and "OPEN MIND." Its expandable design allows for free rearrangement to create diverse forms, expressing the flexibility, innovation, and challenge to change embodied by the URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE.

Following its inaugural meeting on December 2, the URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE held its founding symposium, "NAGOYA REVOLUTION Kick-Off: Launching Major Transformation Toward Creative Urban Center." On the day, diverse participants gathered for lively discussions on the challenges and potential of Nagoya's urban core, marking the first step toward its major transformation.

1. About the Symposium

The URBAN NAGOYA COMMITTEE held a commemorative symposium entitled "NAGOYA REVOLUTION Kick-Off: Launching Major Transformation Toward Creative Urban Center."
Approximately 300 participants from diverse backgrounds attended the venue, indicating high interest in enhancing the appeal of Nagoya's city center and making the event a great success.

2. Keynote Address: Understanding Nagoya's current state and the need for transformation through data

Mr. Kosuke Motani, senior research fellow at the Japan Research Institute, Ltd., delivered the keynote address. Using the latest data and a comparative urban perspective, he provided a multifaceted analysis of the potential held by central Nagoya and the challenges it must confront in the future. His insightful presentation laid a foundation for subsequent discussions.

3. Panel Discussion: What we can do now to become the "city center of choice"

The panel discussion featured four speakers active at the forefront of diverse fields. They discussed from multiple perspectives, based on their on-the-ground experience, what is needed for central Nagoya to become a "place of choice."
