FY2009 Second Half Electric Power Sales Results

The volume of electric power sold reached 62,687 GWh, a gain of 1.3% YoY.

1. Demand for electricity other than extra high-voltage power services (i.e., general residential consumption): Down 0.8% YoY

(1) Lighting services (residential customers)

Although the number of service agreements increased, a reduced number of days in the billing period and other factors resulted in a 0.3% decline in sales volume YoY for this category.

(2) Power services (shop and small factory customers)

A declining number of service agreements and a reduced number of days in the billing period and other factors resulted in a 3.9% decline in sales volume YoY for this category.

2. Demand for extra high-voltage power services: Up 2.5% YoY

(1) Commercial (office building and commercial facility customers)

A declining number of service agreements and other factors resulted in a 0.8% decline in sales volume YoY for this category.

(2) Industrial and other (medium and large factory customers)

Improving production levels, which had declined precipitously in industry sectors such as machinery and steel due to last year's economic slowdown, resulted in a 3.8% rise in sales volume YoY for this category.
