Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Having been successful in its bid to conduct facility replacement work for Units No. 1 and 2 of Taiwan Power Company's Talin coal-fired thermal power plant, Taiwanese engineering firm GIBSIN Engineers, Ltd. (Head office: Taipei County, Taiwan), has commissioned Chubu Electric to provide design support consulting services for the project, and the two companies have now concluded a contract.

This project will replace aging thermal power plants with two high-efficiency 800 MW super-critical pressure coal-fired thermal power plants*. Chubu Electric has introduced super-critical pressure coal-fired thermal units to its Hekinan Thermal Power Station (Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture). Using the expertise that we have accumulated up to the present, we will contribute to the reduction of environmental burden by providing consulting services related to this technology.

Overseas consulting projects are an important part of Chubu Electric Power's overseas energy business, and as such we expect they will synergize with our domestic and overseas energy business. We will undertake such projects with the goal of making an international contribution.

* A coal-fired thermal power plant provided with boilers (super-critical pressure boilers) that are able to efficiently generate steam at super-critical pressures (high temperature/high pressure). Because the steam is generated efficiently, thermal efficiency is increased, and CO2 emissions are reduced.
