Press Release
Revision of Plan for Using Plutonium Recovered at Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant (FY2010)
September 17, 2010
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Chubu Electric sets plans for using plutonium recovered at Japan Nuclear Fuel's Rokkasho reprocessing plant(*1), and as part of its policy of clearly defining its usage plan and ensuring transparency, notifies the public each fiscal year of its usage plans prior to recovery of the plutonium(*2). Our FY2010 usage plan was announced on March 15, 2010.
At present, the projected schedule for completion of construction of Japan Nuclear Fuel's Rokkasho reprocessing plant has been extended on September 10 from October 2010 to October 2012, and we have therefore again revised our FY2010 usage plan, as detailed below.
In order to further increase the transparency and ease of understanding of our plan for using plutonium, from this revision onwards we will indicate our amount of retained plutonium in units of kilograms.
