Press Release
Participation in TABLE FOR TWO
March 01, 2011
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
We are pleased to inform you that Chubu Electric Power will join the TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) program run by the TABLE FOR TWO International Non-profit Organization (*1) to contribute to global society through meals.
Starting today, we will begin offering healthy menus (*2) in line with TFT in a section of the Head Office (Higashi-ku, Nagoya) cafeteria.
TFT was established in 2007 as the first program in Japan to contribute to global society through meals. Participants in developed countries who purchase a healthy menu reduce their own calorie intake and send the reduced portion of calories as nutritionally balanced meals to children in developing countries. This initiative therefore simultaneously addresses obesity and lifestyle disease problems in developed countries and starvation in developing countries.
When employees in participating companies purchase a healthy menu from the cafeteria, a portion of the payment is sent to schools in developing countries through the TFT office to provide school meals.
The price of each healthy menu in the Chubu Electric Power cafeteria includes a donation of 10 yen, and Chubu Electric Power provides a matching 10-yen donation for each meal purchased, so that the company and employees each donate 10 yen. The total of 20 yen per meal covers one meal for a child in a developing country.
We will begin our efforts in the Head Office cafeteria, and, depending on its usage, consider expanding the program to cafeterias in our other regional offices.
TFT is a reasonable program wherein employees become more mindful of their own health and can serve society at the same time, and Chubu Electric Power wishes to support such voluntary activities by employees.
Through this initiative, we hope to make active contributions in order to help develop a sustainable society and fulfill our duties as good corporate citizens.
