FY2010 Electric Power Sales Results

The volume of electric power sold reached 130,911 GWh, a gain of 6.6% YoY.

1   Demand for electricity other than extra high-voltage power services (i.e., general residential consumption): Up 6.0% YoY

(1) Lighting services (residential customers)
Sales rose 6.4% YoY as a result of greater use of air-conditioning equipment and other factors, because summer air temperatures were higher than the previous year.

(2) Power services (shop and small factory customers)
Although the number of service agreements increased, greater use of air conditioning equipment due to the weather and other factors resulted in a 4.3% increase in sales volume YoY for this category.

2   Demand for extra high-voltage power services: Up 6.8% YoY

(1) Commercial (office building and commercial facility customers)
Greater use of air-conditioning equipment due to the weather and other factors resulted in a 2.4% increase in sales volume YoY for this category.

(2) Industrial and other (medium and large factory customers)
Improvement of production levels in industry sectors such as machinery and steel and other factors resulted in an 8.6% increase in sales volume YoY for this category.

Note: Beginning in April 2005, demand for extra high-voltage power services includes all figures for clients using high-voltage power. Year-on-year growth rates have been calculated by replacing the client categories used in previous years with those from FY2005.
