Partial Revision of FY2011 Winter Peak Load Supply and Demand Plan

November 22, 2011
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power has partially revised its FY2011 Winter Peak Load Supply and Demand Plan, announced on October 04.

To enable us to respond to severe power supply and demand conditions over winter, we have worked to ensure supply capacity through initiatives including shortening the period for periodic inspections and changing schedules for work at our thermal power stations and revising repair schedules at our hydroelectric power stations.

By means of changing the period for periodic inspections of certain of our thermal facilities, including the Shin-Nagoya Thermal Power Station, in addition to arranging for the purchase of power from other utilities, we project a 160 MW increase in our supply capacity in January 2012.

However, we also predict that our reserve margin for this winter will fall below the 8-10% reserve margin that represents the benchmark for ensuring stable supply.

At Chubu Electric Power we will continue to take all measures possible to ensure stable supply, including steadily implementing priority inspection and maintenance operations for our generating facilities and transmission and conversion equipment.

We regret any inconvenience that might be caused to our customers, but we request their understanding and their cooperation in attempting to conserve power in ways that will not restrict their daily lives or production activities.
