Development and Sale of a "High-power Top Heating-type Electric Firing Machine"-Grilling delicious seafood and meats in a comfortable work environment-

March 14, 2012
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President & Director: Akihisa Mizuno; head office: 1, Higashi-shincho, Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture) and TPR Trading Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Hisashi Kondo; head office: 3-5-1 Nishi-shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) have jointly developed a "high-power top heating-type electric firing machine" (product name: "Multi High-power Oven").

Top heating-type firing machines that grill seafood and meats placed on gridirons from above are used in food processing plants. Heat sources for top heating-type firing machines include gas and electricity, but electricity has the issue of lower heating power compared to charcoal fire and gas.

The newly developed "high-power top heating-type electric firing machine" uses an "infrared lamp heater (Note 1)" that has higher heating power compared to the far-infrared heaters and quartz tube heaters used in conventional electric firing machines. This achieved a heating capability and grilled finish on a par with charcoal fire and gas.

Grilling is performed without combustion, which suppresses the diffusion of exhaust heat and maintains a cool processing plant work environment, especially in the summer, reducing the load on employees. In addition, the heater output can be adjusted using dials with scale markings, making it easy to adjust the degree of cooking (Note 2) to suit a diverse range of foodstuffs.

TPR Trading will commence sales on orders of the newly developed product as of today.

[Features of the high-power top heating-type electric firing machine]

1 Same high heating power as charcoal fire (approx. 1,100 °C)

The developed product uses infrared lamp heaters with a maximum heater temperature of 1,100 °C, achieving a grilled finish equal to that of charcoal fire and gas.

2 Comfortable work environment

Combustion-free operation maintains a comfortable work environment, even in the summer.

3 Simple power adjustment function

The heater output can be easily adjusted by turning dials with scale markings from 0 to 100.

(Note 1) Infrared lamp heater: This high-performance infrared heater (peak wavelength: approx. 2 μm) uses thin sheets of 99.8% pure carbon fibers processed into filament electrodes and sealed inside quartz tubes together with inert gas.

(Note 2) Degree of cooking: For example, eel is grilled without seasoning to different demands in different parts of Japan: softer in the Kanto region; crisper in the Chubu and Kansai regions. This difference in cooking requires subtle heating power adjustment that formerly required the skill of an experienced cook when using charcoal fire or gas.
