Cooperation in Initiative to Expand Wind Power in Central and Western Japan

Chubu Electric Power has today agreed to cooperate in an initiative to ensure adjustment capacity for Hokuriku Electric Power Company (Hokuriku Electric Power) and Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (Shikoku Electric Power) and expand wind power generation in the service areas of both companies by cooperating with The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kansai Electric Power) to receive power from the companies via inter-regional connections.

Chubu Electric Power, Kansai Electric Power, Hokuriku Electric Power, Shikoku Electric Power, The Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc., and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. have agreed to work together to expand the introduction of wind power in Central and Western Japan using inter-regional connections. As an advance initiative, a study has been conducted of the feasibility of expanding installed wind power capacity in the Hokuriku Electric Power and Shikoku Electric Power service areas by about 200,000 kW in each case by arranging for the transmission of power from Hokuriku Electric Power and Shikoku Electric Power to Chubu Electric Power and Kansai Electric Power in order to ensure the necessary adjustment capacity for Hokuriku Electric Power and Shikoku Electric Power. The present cooperative effort will proceed based on the fact that the advance study confirmed the feasibility of the measure studied.

Chubu Electric Power will continue to work in the future to further expand wind power generation.
