Planned development of Atagi and Nyukawa hydroelectric power stations

Chubu Electric Power would like to announce plans to construct regular water-flow release hydroelectric power stations directly below the prefectural dams at Atagi and Nyukawa in Gifu Prefecture. These stations will utilize both dam head and water release for power generation.  

We began examining the possibility of constructing power stations at the prefectural dams after receiving relevant proposals from Gifu Prefecture in October 2011. As a result, we have decided to build a 190 kW generating capacity hydroelectric power station at Atagi Dam (with entry into service planned for FY2015) and a 350 kW generating capacity hydroelectric power station at Nyukawa Dam (with entry into service planned for FY2016).

We shall be grateful for the understanding and cooperation of Gifu Prefecture, local residents and other parties concerned as we proceed with the development work.

Also, just as with Atagi and Nyukawa Dams, Gifu Prefecture has consulted us regarding a plan to develop a regular water-flow release hydroelectric power station at Uchigatani Dam (Yamato-cho, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture), which is currently under construction (and slated for entry into service in FY2025). We are presently examining the Prefecture's proposal.

For the future, Chubu Electric Power will engage in continuing development of conventional and regular water-flow release hydroelectric power, a renewable energy source that promises stable electricity output. Also, to increase output and annual electricity production, we are making systematic improvements to existing hydroelectric power station facilities.
