Integration of Thai Subsidiary and Bangkok Office

December 21, 2012
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power would like to announce that it has decided to integrate its fully owned subsidiary Chubu Electric Power (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Managing Director Tokuya Sakurai, "CEPT") and Chubu Electric Power's Bangkok Office (General Manager Tsuyoshi Sato) for the purpose of strengthening the Group's operating activities in Thailand and the surrounding countries.

In Thailand, Chubu Electric Power is engaged in the gas-fired thermal IPP business, rice-husk power generation business, and wind power generation business, while CEPT conducts operation and maintenance work for the thermal IPP businesses Chubu Electric Power is engaged in.

Furthermore, the Bangkok Office serves as a base for overseas business activities in Thailand and other countries in the Southeast Asian region. In this capacity it collects information relating to the energy business and conducts research and market studies on new business opportunities.

Although until now CEPT and the Bangkok Office have cooperated in the deployment of business, it has been decided to integrate CEPT and the Bangkok Office for the purpose of strengthening the organizational base for further advancing business into the Southeast Asian region in the future. The surviving entity will be CEPT, and accordingly the Bangkok Office will be closed on December 28, 2012.

As the overseas energy business is necessary for the Group's sustainable growth in the future, we aim for its steady expansion with a medium to long-term perspective, after securing stable domestic supplies.
