Start of operations at 300 MW at the Higashi Shimizu Frequency Converter

Chubu Electric Power performed calibration and testing of the Higashi Shimizu Frequency Converter ("Higashi Shimizu FC" below) in December 2012, and with the completion of testing today, operation of Higashi Shimizu FC at the 300 MW electricity-power-interchange capacity began.

We are placing the highest priority on safety while working towards completion of the Suruga Higashi-Shimizu line that runs through Higashi Shimizu FC to continue ensuring safety.

Frequency converter equipment connects electricity at different frequencies in East Japan (50 Hz) and West Japan (60 Hz) divided by the Fujikawa River in Shizuoka Prefecture. There are three such pieces of equipment nationwide (Shin-Shinano FC, Sakuma FC, and Higashi Shimizu FC).
