FY2012 Second Half Electric Power Sales Results

The volume of electric power sold reached 63,206 GWh, a decline of 2.3% YoY.

1   Demand for electricity other than extra high-voltage power services (i.e., general residential consumption): Up 0.1% YoY  

(1) Lighting services (residential customers)

Energy conservation efforts had an effect, but the weather this winter was cooler than the year before, leading to more use of climate control equipment. Owing to this and other factors, demand was up 0.5% YoY.

(2) Power services (shop and small factory customers)

Climate control equipment received more use because of the cooler weather, but due to factors such as a decline in the number of contracts, demand was down 2.5% YoY.

2   Demand for extra high-voltage power services: Down 3.5% YoY

(1) Commercial (office building and commercial facility customers)

Greater use of climate control equipment due to the weather and other factors resulted in a 0.5% increase in sales volume YoY for this category.

(2) Industrial and other (medium and large factory customers)

Sales dropped 4.9% YoY as a result of lower production of steel and machinery and other factors.
