Press Release
Plans for Development of Taketoyo Thermal Power Plant Unit 5
February 06, 2015
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Chubu Electric Power would like to announce that in response to being selected as the successful bidder for the "FY2014 thermal power bid" (reported on January 29, 2015), we published today the development plans for Taketoyo Thermal Power Plant Unit 5, as well as filing a proposal to Taketoyo Town in Aichi Prefecture and Aichi Prefecture.
The development plans for Taketoyo Thermal Power Plant Unit 5 will see to the decommissioning and demolishing of existing Units 2 - 4 (total output 1.125 million kW) and the demolishing of the already decommissioned Unit 1. We intend to newly establish a coal-fired thermal facility with an output of 1.07 million kW *, aiming to begin commercial operations in FY2021.
We hope to contribute to an inexpensive and stable supply of power by replacing the heavy crude oil-fired power facility that has been in use for more than 40 years with a highly efficient coal-fired power facility.
We would like to move forward with the replacement plans with the understanding and cooperation from residents in local communities and various relevant parties.
*Generator output. The transmission-end output minus the power used in-house will be
1 million kW.
