Chubu Electric Power Selected as FY2016 Semi-Nadeshiko Brand
March 23, 2017
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Since FY2012, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) have been jointly selecting "Nadeshiko Brands" as part of the core of the Japanese government's growth strategy: initiatives encouraging women's success in the workplace. Chubu Electric Power is proud to announce that today it was selected as a "Semi-Nadeshiko Brand," a new category established this fiscal year.
For this new category, METI and TSE look at current progress companies are making to promote women's participation, evaluates career support for women and assistance provided in supporting work and household duties, and accordingly selects enterprises that have potential for future growth.
Chubu Electric Power has a numerical objective to more than double the number of female officers in FY2020 from FY2014 levels. It also is engaging in initiatives such as implementing diversity education for all officers, having career-related interviews with all female members aged just before 30, hosting seminars to help women balance work and childcare/nursing, and enriching working systems to foster flexible working styles. The company believes it received recognition for such active efforts to train female personnel and to help women balance work and domestic duties.
Under a management policy emphasizing the importance of each employee continuing to further fulfill their potential and boost competitiveness, Chubu Electric Power will put effort into supporting the participation of many different human assets, including women, elderly personnel, and members with disabilities. The company will in turn enhance its competitive edge as an enterprise.
