Chubu Electric and INPEX Enter Joint Business Agreements on Power Supply with Three City Gas Companies in Saitama and Nagano Prefectures in Japan

TOKYO, JAPAN - Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Chubu Electric) and INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) jointly announced today they have newly entered joint business agreements with three city gas companies on the supply of wholesale electricity. The three city gas companies are Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas, which provide city gas services in Saitama and Nagano prefectures in Japan.

The three city gas companies will begin retailing electricity in their respective gas supply areas as soon as their preparations are complete, sourcing power from Diamond Power Corporation.

Chubu Electric and INPEX entered a heads of agreement on July 21, 2015 to consider a joint business operation to supply electricity, and have rolled out a joint plan on the supply of electricity to city gas companies that supply natural gas procured from INPEX.

Following the joint business agreements with the three city gas companies, Chubu Electric and INPEX now run joint business operations with a total of 12 city gas companies.

Chubu Electric and INPEX are committed to providing customers with a stable supply of competitively priced, quality electricity and continue responding flexibly to their customers' various energy needs stemming from the full liberalization of the electricity and gas retail markets.
