Start of verification of electricity usage analysis service that uses AI

Chubu Electric Power was to start verifying technology that analyzes electricity outage using AI, with Bidgely, Inc. (US) which provides electricity management service for households.

We hereby announce that we will start verifying a service that utilizes technology that estimates electricity usage of each household electric appliance from electricity outage of the entire house of the customers, jointly with Bidgely, targeting 100 monitors.

In this verification, electricity usage of each household electric appliance will be estimated from electricity usage of the entire household and a report that visualizes said electricity usage will be created, using electricity usage data of every 30 minutes of target monitors from August 2016 to July 2017.

Practicability of the service will be verified by collecting thoughts and opinions on use of the service from target monitors.

In order to visualize electricity usage of each household electric appliance, commonly, HEMS equipment is additionally installed. However, by using AI, electricity usage of each household electric appliance can be estimated based on electricity usage data acquired from smart meters, without additionally installing equipment at households of customers.

Therefore, we will be able to provide more delicate energy-saving service at a low cost, such as comparing electricity usage of each household electric appliance with similar households and grasping effect of having energy-saving household electric appliance adopted by customers.

By becoming able to grasp electricity usage of each household electric appliance, in the future, it will be linked with various new services such as recommending timing to replace appliances or recommended models and proposing new electricity rate menu that suits customers.
