Conclusion of "Agreement Concerning Mutual Support During a Disaster" by AEON and Chubu Electric Power

AEON Co., Ltd. (President: Motoya Okada; Hereinafter AEON) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President & Director: Satoru Katsuno; hereinafter Chubu Electric Power) have concluded today the "Agreement Concerning Mutual Support during a Disaster" which stipulates for both companies to support people affected by the disaster when a large-scale disaster occurs.

Due to the agreement, when a large-scale disaster occurs, AEON will provide relief supplies and rent space to be used as recovery base to Chubu Electric Power. Chubu Electric Power will supply power to temporary evacuation sites set up by AEON on its store premises, based on request from local governments.

AEON has proactively advanced efforts that enable them to continue business during a disaster such as continuing large-scale disaster drills projecting a large earthquake and tsunami. In March 2016, based on disaster prevention efforts made after the Great East Japan Earthquake, "AEON group BCM (business continuation management) 5-year plan" was developed and a plan for a new structure that enables business continuation during a disaster is promoted.

Chubu Electric Power has developed BCP (business continuation plan) for surely implementing work to be continued during a large-scale disaster and maintains and improves disaster response capabilities through mechanism of BCM (business continuation management) aimed at continuous improvement. In order to further improve disaster response capabilities, Chubu Electric Power coordinates with companies and organizations in a wide range of fields.

Due to conclusion of the agreement by the two companies which are certified as designated public corporations (Note) by the Cabinet Office, further contributions will be made to the local society through support activities when a large-scale disaster occurs.

AEON and Chubu Electric Power will continue to fulfill social responsibilities as lifelines that support the everyday life of local customers.

(Note) Organization that provides emergency support, such as restoration of lifelines and transport of relief supplies, in response to request by the national government during a disaster and is designated in accordance with the Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures

1. Outline of agreement

(1) AEON and Chubu Electric Power shall improve disaster response capability which prepares for large-scale disasters through close coordination and cooperation with each other and shall smoothly implement disaster recovery measures.

(2) When a large-scale disaster occurs due to an earthquake, AEON shall provide relief supplies (food, daily commodities, etc.) for disaster recovery personnel and rent parking lot as space for recovery base to Chubu Electric Power based on request from Chubu Electric Power. Chubu Electric Power shall supply power to temporary evacuation sites set up by AEON on its store premises, based on request from the local government.

(3) In normal times, both companies shall coordinate with each other to conduct disaster drills.
