FY2011 First-half Electric Power Sales Results

The volume of electric power sold reached 63,193 GWh, a loss of 4.4% YoY.

1   Demand for electricity other than extra high-voltage power services : Down 5.8% YoY  

(1) Lighting services (residential customers)
Sales dropped 5.6% YoY as a result of decreased use of air-conditioning equipment because summer air temperatures were lower than the previous year, power-saving efforts, and other factors.

(2) Power services (shop and small factory customers)
Fewer contracts, decreased use of air-conditioning equipment due to the weather, and other factors resulted in a 7.0% decrease in sales volume YoY.

2   Demand for extra high-voltage power services: Down 3.7% YoY

(1) Commercial (office building and commercial facility customers)
Decreased use of air-conditioning equipment due to the weather, power-saving efforts, and other factors resulted in a 7.7% decrease in sales volume YoY.

(2) Industrial and other (medium and large factory customers)
Factors such as a drop in motor vehicle-related production caused by the earthquake, which is currently improving, resulted in a 2.1% decrease in sales volume YoY.
