Chubu Electric Power had initially planned the transfer of low level radioactive waste (928 drums) to Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited in May 2018. However, in March 2018, peeling of the coating was observed in one of the drums that had already been transported to Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited. The transfer was thus delayed, awaiting the results of the investigation to determine the cause. (Notified on April 27, 2018).

The investigation is expected to take time, and involved parties have decided that the low level radioactive waste will not be transported during FY2018.

Chubu Electric Power will continue to investigate the causes of the peeling of the coating and develop recurrence prevention measures. We will be publishing the reports as they come in.
